Lamborghini’s All-Time Sales Record Last Year

It’s astonishing to think that Lamborghini once faced financial struggles.

The renowned Italian automaker has just declared its third consecutive sales record, surpassing 10,000 deliveries worldwide in 2023. Far removed from the era when Lamborghini’s survival was genuinely in question, particularly from the early 1970s to the late ’90s before its acquisition by the VW Group, the brand is thriving. According to the financial results released on Tuesday, Lamborghini achieved a historic milestone by delivering 10,112 cars last year. This marks the first time the company has achieved six-digit sales, representing a ten percent increase over the 9,233 vehicles sold in the previous year, which itself marked a ten percent increase over the 8,405 units sold in 2021.

Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann expressed pride in surpassing the 10,000-car delivery mark, stating, “Playing a role in achieving this milestone for Lamborghini is an honor for me and for all the people who work tirelessly to achieve this goal.

Consistent with previous years, the Urus SUV remained the best-seller, with 6,087 units sold globally. Following closely was the Huracán, with 3,962 units delivered worldwide. While the exact number of Revuelto, the brand’s first series-production hybrid, sold was not disclosed, Lamborghini indicated strong interest in its latest supercar. However, prospective buyers ordering the Revuelto today can anticipate delivery no earlier than late 2026.

The positive reception of an electrified Lamborghini bodes well for the brand’s future, especially considering CEO Stephan Winkelmann’s repeated assertions that the automaker’s trajectory is electric. The entire Lamborghini lineup, including the Revuelto, Urus, and the successor to the Huracán, is anticipated to be available as hybrids by the close of 2024. The brand is set to transition entirely to electric vehicles during the latter half of the decade, coinciding with the launch of the Lanzador, a 2+2 grand tourer.
