What car possesses the power to capture more attention than a brand-new Ferrari? The answer lies in one of the legendary automaker’s exclusive, one-of-a-kind creations. Ferrari’s Special Projects division has recently revealed its latest bespoke creation, known as the SP-8, a breathtaking custom roadster that boasts a unique two-tone design, paying homage to the brand’s illustrious history.
This extraordinary convertible speedster was commissioned by an undisclosed patron in Taiwan. While its foundation is based on the acclaimed F8 Spider, the SP-8 has undergone a remarkable transformation. Most notably, the retractable hardtop has been entirely eliminated, giving way to an open-top design that accentuates the car’s captivating aesthetics. The front end has been meticulously restyled to present a more pronounced and distinctive form. The grille, now broader and more commanding, extends nearly to the wheel wells, forming a visually striking focal point. The newly designed headlamps further enhance the car’s distinctive character. Drawing inspiration from other Ferrari models, the SP-8 features the windscreen and exhaust tips borrowed from the 296 GTB, taillights reminiscent of the Roma, and modernized five-spoke alloy rims, paying homage to the iconic F40. To top it all off, the vehicle sports a stunning dual-tone paint finish that combines a glossy Blue Sandstone with a matte Argento Micalizzato.
Stepping inside the cabin, one may observe subtle yet effective refinements. The gear selector is a notable feature, adopting a grated design reminiscent of the SF90 Stradale. The cabin’s two seats are upholstered in Navy Blue Alcantara adorned with laser-etched details and gradient-effect cloth, while iridescent twill mats grace the vehicle’s floors.
Under the hood, the SP-8 retains the heart of the F8 Spider, featuring a mid-mounted twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V-8 engine. This powerhouse remains untouched, delivering an impressive 710 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque. While specific performance figures for the SP-8 haven’t been disclosed, it’s worth noting that its sibling, the F8 Spider, can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in a mere 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 210 mph.
Notably, Ferrari has not disclosed the price tag for the SP-8, but it is expected to far exceed the F8 Spider’s base price of $324,342. It’s important to mention that this unique creation is unlikely to be available for purchase, adding to its exclusivity. However, Ferrari enthusiasts in Italy will have the opportunity to witness the SP-8 in person. The car will be on display at the Mugello Circuit from Wednesday through the end of the month, and subsequently at the Ferrari Museum from mid-November until March of the following year.
