Farewell, Mr. American Pie. Hollywood actor Seann William Scott, renowned for his role as Steven Stifler in the 1999 coming-of-age classic alongside Jason Biggs, is bidding adieu to his California residence.
His Venice compound, now on the market for just under $5 million, comprises a historic 1,300-square-foot bungalow and a modern glass-and-steel house situated behind it. In total, the two structures boast five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and 4,600 square feet of living space. Acquiring the 5,148-square-foot lot in 2017 after relocating from New York, Scott initially paid $2.2 million for the property, expressing his intention to turn a profit, as reported by Bloomberg.
Contrary to expectations, Scott, known for his roles in films like Dude, Where’s My Car?, revealed his passion for architectural design. The extensive six-year renovation project involved merging the two buildings, a collaborative effort between Scott, his wife Olivia Scott, and interior designer. While the bungalow underwent a comprehensive overhaul, the glassy structure was relatively untouched, Scott disclosed to Bloomberg.
The smaller bungalow underwent significant aesthetic enhancements, embodying a chic and minimalist atmosphere with an abundance of natural, organic materials. Adorned with earthy tile floors, the one-story dwelling features a kitchen enveloped in Caesarstone and warm wood. The interior includes two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a dining room leading to a covered deck, with Scott noting that they maintained the original footprint but essentially created a new structure.
Conversely, the glass-and-concrete loft, designed by architect Kevin Mulcahy, spans three levels and incorporates three bedrooms and four bathrooms. Noteworthy elements include accordion glass doors on the ground floor, a double-height entertainment area, and a second kitchen equipped with floating marble shelves, wood paneling, and original steel beams.
Scott, who is set to portray a disgraced cop in the upcoming film Bad Man, takes pride in the extensive renovations. However, he openly contemplates whether selling the property is a mistake, expressing his love for Venice and admiration for the coolness of the place.
The listing is jointly held by Graham Larson of Sotheby’s International Realty – Pacific Palisades Brokerage and Sam Plouchart of Sotheby’s International Realty – Beverly Hills Brokerage.
