Liquid Death’s Founder Spends $10 Million on Malibu Mansion

Can water sold in cans with packaging resembling beer bottles sound unusual? Well, it might be unconventional, but it has proven to be extremely profitable. In under five years, Liquid Death, a Los Angeles-based company, has achieved a valuation of $700 million and gained substantial attention. The Washington Post has described it as a “mind-set,” while The New Yorker has noted its irreverent marketing approach, with slogans like “Murder your thirst,” designed to appeal to individuals who are “straight edge” and avoid drugs, tobacco, and alcohol. Regardless, the company has made a significant impact on the industry and is currently the fastest-growing water brand in the country, according to Forbes.

Not surprisingly, the founder of this brand, Mike Cessario, doesn’t come from a background in water bottling. He is a 41-year-old marketing expert who previously worked for companies such as Street League Skateboarding and VaynerMedia.

A longtime resident of Southern California, particularly in beach communities like Malibu and Manhattan Beach, Cessario has put some of his successful ventures into purchasing a hilltop home on Point Dume, one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in Malibu, for a hefty $10.5 million.

Constructed in 2001, this Mediterranean villa-style residence sits on a 1.2-acre lot, hidden behind gates and a long driveway. The house offers five bedrooms and six bathrooms spread across nearly 6,800 square feet of living space. Some of its notable features include high ceilings, hardwood floors, and ample windows throughout. The kitchen boasts commercial-grade stainless steel appliances and a built-in breakfast nook, while both the living room and formal dining room lead to a wraparound deck equipped with a fire-pit and a spacious outdoor dining area.

The ground floor accommodates four of the home’s five bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom. Upstairs, the expansive master suite occupies almost the entire second floor, featuring a generous bathroom, a walk-in closet, and an adjacent bonus room suitable for use as a private office. The master suite also offers a private ocean-view deck complete with a separate yoga studio.

Moving outside, the property’s grounds are a true highlight. They include a large grassy lawn, a rectangular swimming pool, and a separate jacuzzi nestled beneath a bougainvillea-covered gazebo. One side of the house features a patio with a fire-pit and a fountain. Additionally, there’s a well-maintained garden with a charming bridge and an open-air living space.
