There was a Craftsman-style house in which Pitt and Angelina Jolie raised their six children during their six years of marriage.
A few days after she had a contentious divorce with Cecil B. DeMille, Jolie purchased a neighbouring $25 million property that had been Cecil B. DeMille’s former residence following their contentious split in 2016. According to the actor, the choice of the estate was partly due to the desire to ensure that the children of the former couple had easy access to their father when the time comes for the final chapter of their lives.
It has been reported, though not yet confirmed, that Pitt paid $1.6 million in 1994 for the Craftsman-style main house, which was built in 1915 and is spread over 6,692 square feet of living space, which has six bedrooms and seven bathrooms across six floors. While the current listing details have yet to be released, records indicate Pitt paid $1.7 million in 1994 for the house. This was a good time in the actor’s career because he was a mere three years out from his breakthrough role as a hitchhiker in Thelma & Louise and was gearing up for the release of Interview with a Vampire.
In order to expand the estate, Pitt acquired two adjacent properties that were adjacent to the original estate during these years. In 2005, as Jolie was just getting to know him and he was just getting started with his relationship with her, the Bullet Train actor added two more adjoining lots to the property that he had already purchased.
As per reports, the compound covers just under two acres of land, and it features a large swimming pool, a tennis court, and a skate park along with numerous other amenities. There is not much detail about the house on the ground, but aerial photography clearly shows that it has dark brown siding, two chimneys built of red brick, multiple patios surrounding the pool, and even a large round spa that borders it.
There are several reasons behind the actor’s decision to leave the Los Angeles area where he had lived for nearly three decades. He determined he needed a “smaller place” in the vicinity of his old home. It has been reported that Pitt and Jolie are still negotiating child custody and their financial assets even though they were legally declared single in 2019, but things aren’t exactly going well between them. It appears that several lawsuits and allegations of abuse have been filed as part of the ongoing divorce proceedings.
