As speculation continued regarding the status of their two-year marriage, Hollywood stars Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck took decisive action by listing their expansive Beverly Hills mansion for an eye-popping $68 million. At the same time, they began searching for separate residences in Los Angeles, signaling their impending split.

While Affleck swiftly purchased a Cliff May-designed equestrian estate in Brentwood for slightly over $20 million, Lopez was frequently seen exploring various properties throughout the city to find her new home. Recent buzz suggests she has finally settled on a stunning estate located on Sunset Boulevard in the prestigious Holmby Hills neighborhood. This property was previously owned by late fashion mogul Max Azria and acclaimed Oscar-winning writer, producer, and novelist Sidney Sheldon. Notably, it is situated adjacent to the home that her former partner, Sean “Diddy” Combs, is currently trying to sell for $61 million.

According to reports from TMZ, Lopez is nearing a deal to acquire the historic estate designed by architect Paul R. Williams. The property was bought by Azria and his wife, Lubov, in 2005, after which they undertook a comprehensive multimillion-dollar renovation. About nine years ago, they placed the home on the market with an initial asking price of $85 million. The estate fluctuated in price, listed at as much as $88 million and later as low as $55 million. At various points, it was also available for rent at rates reaching $400,000 per month and was utilized as a filming location.

When no buyers emerged, the listing agents, Rayni Williams and Branden Williams of The Beverly Hills Estates, opted to auction the 60-room residence through Concierge Auctions earlier this year. The winning bid of $30 million was made by billionaire investor Ron Burkle, known for his passion for architecturally significant properties, including Bob Hope’s Palm Springs mansion and Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch. Burkle’s prominence in real estate circles is well established.

However, Burkle has since become embroiled in a breach of contract lawsuit against Azria’s widow, creating an opportunity for Lopez. She had previously toured the home and is now negotiating a purchase price with both Burkle and Lubov, aiming for a deal between $30 million and $39 million.

Originally commissioned by radio personality Charles Correll in the late 1930s for $70,000, the estate has an intriguing history. Sidney Sheldon later occupied the property, reportedly adding 10,000 square feet to the structure. The sprawling compound is tucked behind a long gated driveway and features a spacious motor court that can accommodate over 20 vehicles. In total, the estate offers 14 bedrooms and 25 bathrooms spread across approximately 30,000 square feet of recently updated living space.

The residence is filled with impressive amenities, including an office with breathtaking skyline views and a 5,500-square-foot movie theater complete with a concession stand. Other luxurious features include nine fireplaces, a gold-domed library, a game room equipped with a wet bar, a gym, a wine cellar, a catering kitchen, and staff quarters. Additionally, there is a pool house converted into a wellness center, featuring a sauna, steam shower, and massage area.

Among the property’s other remarkable elements is an elegant double-height entry foyer adorned with a skylight and a sweeping bridal staircase. The living room boasts parquet floors, a cozy fireplace, a music nook, and a wall of French doors that open to a terrace. The formal dining room showcases a silver-leaf ceiling, while the spacious gourmet kitchen is equipped with two islands and top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances. The primary suite is a lavish retreat featuring a sitting area with a fireplace, a private balcony, a large showroom-style closet, and an opulent bathroom.

The beautifully landscaped grounds further enhance the appeal of the estate, which includes an infinity-edge pool surrounded by a sun deck and a lush lawn. Outdoor amenities also feature a firepit lounge area, a glass-walled tennis court with an elevated viewing box, a greenhouse for growing produce, a koi pond, and an alfresco tea room.

Recently, Lopez sold her Manhattan penthouse, which had been on the market since 2017, for $23 million. However, she still retains ownership of a Hamptons estate that she purchased for $10 million over a decade ago. Meanwhile, Affleck now resides in his newly acquired Brentwood property and also owns a secluded riverfront estate in Georgia, which he bought in 2003 when he and Lopez were previously together. This is also where the couple celebrated their lavish wedding in 2022.
