Bentley’s New Flying Spur 4-Door Car

The Bentley Flying Spur, renowned for its luxury and subtle evolution, has received its latest iteration with some noteworthy updates.

While the exterior of the new Flying Spur might closely resemble last year’s model, significant changes are hidden under the hood. Bentley has replaced the long-standing V-12 engine, a hallmark of the Flying Spur since its introduction in 2005, with a new hybrid V-8 powertrain. This marks a notable shift as the luxury saloon joins Bentley’s growing roster of hybrid vehicles. Following the Continental GT, the Flying Spur now features the company’s latest “Ultra Performance hybrid powertrain,” which combines a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine with an electric motor.

Despite the reduction in engine size from a V-12 to a V-8, the new hybrid system delivers impressive performance. The Flying Spur Speed variant boasts a combined output of 771 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. This includes 592 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque from the internal combustion engine, and an additional 187 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque from the electric motor. This powertrain configuration makes the new Flying Spur the most powerful four-door Bentley ever produced. It also achieves a remarkable acceleration, going from zero to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds, which is nearly half a second faster than its W-12-powered predecessor.

The addition of a 25.9-kWh battery pack enhances the Flying Spur’s efficiency, providing an electric-only driving range of 47 miles. When combined with the petrol engine, the total driving range extends to 515 miles per tank. The car’s hybrid system includes four driving modes tailored to different needs: Pure EV for electric-only driving, Electric Boost for additional power, Regenerative Braking to recharge the battery while driving, and Charge for battery replenishment. The battery can be recharged in under three hours, adding to the vehicle’s convenience and practicality.

The Flying Spur’s 2025 model also features subtle but significant design updates. While the overall appearance remains familiar, the front end has been subtly redesigned to include a more prominent grille, particularly striking on the Speed variant. Additionally, Bentley offers three new 22-inch wheel designs, providing more customization options for buyers.

Interior updates are more refined and may only be noticeable to the most dedicated Bentley enthusiasts. These include a new digital gauge cluster and an upgraded infotainment system. The seats now feature a diamond quilt pattern, and the laminated windows contribute to an even quieter cabin experience, enhancing the overall luxury feel.

The new Flying Spur is anticipated to hit dealerships later this year. While Bentley has yet to disclose the exact pricing for the hybrid model, it is expected that the new version will carry a higher price tag than the previous year’s model, which started at $214,000. This price increase reflects the advancements and new features incorporated into the latest iteration of this prestigious saloon.
