A few years ago, married Quest Nutrition co-founders Tom and Lisa Bilyeu bought an ultra-contemporary showpiece in the Hollywood Hills, high above the Sunset Strip, just after their highly successful nutrition-based food company was sold for a whopping $1 billion to the maker of Atkins bars. The Los Angeles Times first reported that this place is up for sale for $40 million.

It is estimated that the Bilyeus are seeking around $4 million more than they paid for the property back in December 2019. Designed and built that same year by South Africa-based architecture firm Saota, for property developer Jeff Thomas, and liberally featured on Netflix’s “Selling Sunset,” the extravagant steel and stone structure is one of the most spacious residences in the area, offering more than 20,000 square feet of living space on three floors.

There are five bedrooms and eight bathrooms in this home, which is nestled on a half-acre parcel. There is a glass-encased elevator, a temperature-controlled wine cellar, a movie theater, a rooftop deck with a fire pit, and an infinity pool 175 feet long flanked by a 15-foot TV. You can enjoy sweeping views of the San Gabriel Mountains, Downtown LA, the ocean, and Catalina Island through automated glass sliding doors throughout.

The experience unfolds on the lower level, where a grand entry foyer accented by a water feature leads to a limestone-clad auto gallery offering space for up to 12 vehicles, as well as a fully equipped wellness center with an indoor-outdoor gym, hot and cold plunge pools, massage rooms, saunas, and steam showers.

Among the other highlights is a 12-seat dining room separated from the formal living room by a linear fireplace, as well as a gourmet kitchen with top-notch appliances and a separate catering kitchen. A private terrace, designer showroom closet, and a luxurious bathroom with a sunken tub and double shower are also featured in the spacious master retreat.
