It was Eugenio Derbez who wrote, produced, starred in and directed the Mexican comedy-drama “Instructions Not Included” in 2013, which earned over $100 million worldwide. After moving from Mexico City to Los Angeles, the showbiz veteran founded 3Pas Studios, a bilingual production company. Since then, he has been on a hot professional streak.
Among the recent deals signed by Derbez’s studio are a first-look deal with TelevisaUnivision’s streamer Vix, a development deal with Encantos for kids content, and a re-up with Lionsgate for a first-look film deal. Also, he starred in the Oscar-winning film “CODA” as Bernardo Villalobos, and he’ll star in the Hulu series “The Valet,” which will premiere on May 20.
As a result of Derbez’s burgeoning success, he bought a $7.8 million Beverly Hills Post Office house a few years ago. Although he still owns that property, records show he’s now considerably upgrading his living arrangements, having spent $14 million on a sleekly designed mansion in Encino. As a result of his deal, the property, which had been listed for million, was sold.
On a little more than half an acre of land, the three-level house is tucked away behind gates, described in the listing as a “contemporary modern masterpiece.” Designed by Sophea Interior Design, the home features seven bedrooms and 10 baths. In addition to offering picturesque city lights views, the expansive glass walls also open to create seamless indoor-outdoor surroundings.
Upon entering the spacious interiors, a set of back-lit steps lead up to a towering front door adorned with blonde hardwood floors and designer light fixtures. It includes a living room with a massive linear fireplace surrounded by veined marble and a formal dining room with a wet bar.
Other highlights include a wood-clad gourmet kitchen outfitted with a center island, high-end appliances, a dining area and butler’s pantry. Adjacent is a cozy reading nook lined with built-in bookshelves and a fireside family room that spills out to the backyard; and rounding out the main level is an office and en-suite bedroom.
Five additional en-suite bedrooms can be found upstairs, including a sumptuous master retreat displaying a mini-bar, fireplace and balcony with fire-pit. An expansive walk-in closet has an accessories room, while the luxe bath is equipped with a huge glass-encased shower and soaking tub.
Ideal for entertaining, the basement level comes complete with a sauna, plush movie theater, mirrored gym and wet bar. Yet another en-suite bedroom can be found on this floor, as well as a 2,000-square-foot showroom-style garage with room for up to eight vehicles.
