Mark Wahlberg may not have scored the blockbuster sale he was hoping for, but he has nonetheless been able to sell his palatial Los Angeles house for the amount he originally wanted. As part of the deal, the unapologetically opulent mansion, which is situated within the infamous Beverly Park enclave, was sold at a price of $55 million in cash.
As far as property records are concerned, the unnamed foreign buyers are believed to have ties to Hong Kong and mainland China, and they have now been identified as Hong Kong and Mainland Chinese nationals. Aside from that, Rich Report confirms that these are the very same shadowy individuals who just four months ago purchased a massive mansion that was home to reality television stars Terry and Heather Dubrow, down on the Newport Coast of California, for $55 million. Their names are still a mystery to this day.
Despite its huge size, Wahlberg’s mansion is bigger than the ex-Dubrow manor, which has more than twice the square footage, and is twice the size of Wahlberg’s house by more than 3,000 square feet. Designed by megamansion architect Richard Landry and decorated by noted interior designer Annette English to create an ornate French-style behemoth that crushes the proverbial scales and covers more than 30,000 square feet of interior space, the mansion is custom-built for the actor.
The 6-acre compound is comprised of a massive main house, as well as several additional buildings and features 12 bedrooms and 20 bathrooms over the course of its 6 acres. There are several detached buildings, as well as another large house.
The property was purchased by Wahlberg back in 2009 as a vacant plot of land, paying a mere $8 million for it, and then it was re-developed into a highly individualistic residence around 2014. The estate was first listed nearly a year ago for $87.5 million, but before the buyers came calling with their lowball offer nearly a year ago, the estate’s asking price had dipped to $79 million.
Even though $55 million is still an impressive amount, it’s nowhere near Beverly Park’s price record of $70 million, set by the Hong Kong tycoon Hao Tang last year. Several weeks before that, Adele had spent $58 million on Sylvester Stallone’s Beverly Park mansion, which had formerly belonged to the actor.
This home is filled with so many highlights that it almost seems impossible to list them all, but a couple of them include a two-story library, living room with two fireplaces, a gourmet kitchen with two islands, a gym with mirror walls, wine cellars with tasting rooms, movie theaters, and an upstairs master retreat with two marble bathrooms and decadent dual closets.
It also includes a motorcourt with ample parking for several dozens of cars, manicured gardens, two tennis courts with viewing pavilions, a beautiful skate park, a detached guestroom, and a stunning grotto-style pool with waterfalls, sunbathing shelves, and a private beach access.
This move will be the second time Wahlberg and his wife Rhea Durham have moved to Las Vegas, where in the last year they bought a luxurious mansion and two lots of vacant land for more than $30 million.
There has been no confirmation so far as to what the mystery buyers will do with the two ultra-luxury SoCal homes that they have purchased, but if they have used Beverly Park as a primary residence and Newport Coast as a vacation home, we suspect they will keep the Beverly Park mansion as a permanent residence.
