A production car for the first time in the company’s history.
In the wake of the official debut of the 1,063 HP Mercedes-AMG One, Red Bull Advanced Technologies, Red Bull Racing Group’s high-performance engineering department, has announced the first details of its new Formula 1-inspired hypercar, dubbed the “RB17.”
As Red Bull’s first production car, the RB17 will be designed, developed, and manufactured in-house. The two-seater, which is designed around a carbon composite tub featuring “the most advanced ground effect package available in a series production car,” will run on a V8 hybrid engine producing over 1,100 BHP. Technical details have not yet been revealed.
“The RB17 marks an important milestone in the evolution of Red Bull Advanced Technologies, now fully capable of creating and manufacturing a series production car at our Red Bull Technology Campus,” Christian Horner, CEO of Oracle Red Bull Racing and Red Bull Advanced Technologies, said. “Further, the RB17 marks the first time that a car wearing the Red Bull brand has been available to collectors.”
“The RB17 distills everything we know about creating championship-winning Formula One cars into a package that delivers extreme levels of performance in a two-seat track car,” says Red Bull CTO Adrian Newey. “Driven by our passion for performance at every level, the RB17 pushes design and technical boundaries far beyond what has been previously available to enthusiasts and collectors.”
Only 50 RB17s will be available for collectors for a price of £5 million GBP (approximately $6 million USD). Owners will also receive access to simulators, vehicle development, on-track training, and exclusive experiences after purchasing the vehicle, bringing them closer to the Red Bull Racing team. Red Bull factory will also provide service and maintenance tailored to the user profile and the owner’s needs.
